Bedford Lawn Bowls Club
Brief History and Club Access
Bedford Lawn Bowls Club is located 15 minutes from Halifax at 1800 Bedford Highway just as you leave Bedford prior to the 102 Bicentennial Drive entrance!
The year prior to our opening the Bedford Lawn Bowls Club members were instructed by the Dartmouth Club in how to play the game and some details in operating a Lawn Bowling Club. And on Thursday, September 28, 1989 the Honourable Ken Streatch, the Mayor, members of the town council and the Bedford recreation commission officially toured the facility. The following June 1990 the official opening of Bedford Lawn Bowls Club took place with Mayor Peter Christie throwing the first bowl, beginning our 24 year history of Lawn Bowling for the residents of the Bedford/Sackville and surrounding area.
In the 2013 season the club is open to all members during club league activities and tournaments. Besides competitions the club provides a coffee league for a more relaxing game. Depending on the venue the club is open in the evenings as well as morning games. The club is equipped with night lights for evening activities. If you wish to use the greens for practise during off times when the club isn't being used and you don't have a key you may arrange to borrow a key from Malcom Capstick! A deposit is necessary which will be returned with the key!
